ANC condemns political sabotage on our election posters
In recent past days, numerous of the our posters were removed and/or destroyed by unknown persons in some parts of the Region. Such incidents were reported in Benoni, Apex, Brakpan and Dunswart.
“We have every reason to believe that these are acts of thuggery by certain political parties that are scared of the impact and inroads that the ANC is making in thise areas,” says regional secretary Thembinkosi ‘TK’ Nciza.
“While this may be the case, the ANC remains resolute that victory is certain. Our people know what we have done for them over the years and what we have promised to do going forward, therefore they know that the ANC is their present and the future.”
Nciza says while in some cases the posters were completely destroyed, in other instances they were just taken down from the street-poles and left lying on the ground. “This is a clear act of political sabotage and against the grain code of conduct and Electoral Act.”
The ANC encourages members of the public who witness such incidents to report them to the law enforcement agencies, because ‘this activity is illegal and therefore a criminal offence’.
“No amount of political sabotage will derail our mission to claim decisive victory in the forthcoming elections. In actual fact such actions motivate us to work even harder because clearly some parties are intimidated by the ANC and its track record.”
We call on our Branches and Members to remain focused, redo the work of posting and not retaliate on such barbaric acts!
